Cultural Heritage Studies

Cultural Heritage Studies investigate the way in which material and immaterial objects are selected, preserved, and promoted as significant for particular groups of people. We subscribe to a broad understanding of cultural heritage including a variety of artefacts (from artworks to cities) which are studied without limits in terms of periodization or culture. Moreover, our focus goes beyond objects themselves to consider their establishment as heritage in a political context through a variety of practices, ranging from conservation to destruction.
